Salvage Flourescent Light Bulb Open Electronic Ballast component

Do you know you can get valuable electronic components from the Fluorescence bulb's ballast in your household? I didn't quite know this until cutting open a faulty bulb caused by the burnt heating element. The ballast is to control the amount of current required by the bulb to light up so that it can have last longer live cycle compare to ordinary bulb without ballast.

The circuit itself useful as it convert 240 volt into 18 watt of current. However be very careful when opening up the circuit especially the one leading to the bulb - and use safety gear such as gloves and mouth protective cover especially if the bulb is broken. because some fluorescence bulb contents hazardous mercury vapor mix.

Philips Light Bulb Tech Spec:

Voltage: 220 - 240 volts
Frequency: 50 Hz - 60 Hz
Total Wattage Use: 18 Watts
Total Lumens: 1100 lm or 61 Lumens/watt
